One of
our main priorities is to find loving
homes for the many animals that find their way into our care. We try to
match animals with people who are sincerely interested in making the
commitment and take responsibility for caring for one of these animals.
Please visit our Available Pets page or contact us to find out more
about the animals that are currently in our care.
CONDITIONS
FOR ADOPTION FROM OUR BRANCH OF THE SPCA:
- All cats
and kittens that are adopted must
be kept indoors unless
they are on a harness and leash and supervised by their owner.
This is done for the feline’s protection. Animals adopted
from us have been rescued from one situation or another and should not
be put at further risk.
- If an
adult animal is adopted that has not yet been spayed or neutered, spay
or neuter must be done within 30 days of the adoption.
- If a
kitten or puppy is adopted they must be spayed or neutered by the age
of six months.
- An animal
adopted from us cannot be given to another person or euthanized without
our permission.
- Adoption
fees do apply.
Please make sure that you
fully consider and are willing to
adhere to these conditions when considering adopting a companion animal
from
us.

Daisy
Daisy was born on approximately May 27th, and promptly
abandoned, with her mom and littermates. Thankfully, the little
family was saved and a foster home was found. She is an active, but
gentle tabby kitten, which loves to play. Beautifully marked, she is
also a gentle companion.
Daisy has had her first vaccination and (as a
precaution) been dewormed.
Leah and Quill

Leah and Quill are the
newest additions to the SPCA
family. Leah is approximately 1-2 years old. She is a lap
cat and
loves to be around people. She is in good health and is a
wonderful
mother to her little boy Quill. Now, I know you are probably
thinking, “Quill…what
kind of name is that?” Well, he is so named because he has
little
white hairs coming out of his back that make him look a little like a
porcupine,
therefore the name Quill. He is about 7 weeks old and will be
ready to go
to a new home around August 14th. He is playful and
energetic
and has a wonderful personality. If you are interested in
adopting one of
these beautiful felines, please call Marlene at 863-8372.
Olivia

Olivia
has just been designated as a “Special Needs” cat.
She is a 5 year old female brown tabby with a patch of white under her
chin. She is spayed, declawed and has had her vaccinations. Olivia is a
very quiet and delicate girl who enjoys nothing more than to lounge on
something comfortable and watch the things that happen around her. She
loves to be rubbed and can also be a bit playful, which is gentle
because she has no claws. Olivia has been through a lot of hardships,
including the death of her first owner, to being abused at her second
home. She has a very calming effect on the people she is around
and is in need of a loving family who will give her that peace back in
return. A few weeks ago, after testing, it was determined that Olivia
is diabetic and requires two insulin shots per day. She
doesn’t mind them and sits perfectly still for her
treatment. Olivia needs a special person to take care of
her. She deserves a second chance at a loving home. If you
think you can provide her with that, please contact the Antigonish SPCA
at 863-2111.
